Divided Form, 2025

Divided Form is an original piece of hand-embroidered textile art, created from a vintage 1800s corset advertisement transferred onto cotton and framed in a 7.5″ x 5.5″ wooden embroidery hoop. With pink and green thread, the corset lines are stitched to draw out the tension between body and garment, structure and femininity. Floral embroidery accents on the head and hand introduce softness and resistance, adding a poetic, modern commentary on the control and beauty embedded in historical fashion.This piece merges fashion history, fiber art, and visual storytelling—inviting viewers to consider how women’s bodies have been shaped (and reshaped) by time, culture, and design.
