Description
A portrait of sound becoming light.
This textile work captures Diana Ross mid-song — eyes closed, completely inside the music. The black-and-white studio image is printed on fabric and hand-embroidered with dimensional floral stitching that grows upward around her like rising notes.
Delicate turquoise blossoms and green stems frame her voice — not as decoration, but as expansion. The flowers feel almost inevitable, as if they bloom because she sings.
A small iridescent cluster at her temple catches light like stage shimmer — subtle, but electric.
This piece explores glamour not as spectacle, but as presence. As vulnerability. As power that doesn’t need to shout.
Part of my Women’s History Month series celebrating iconic women whose voices reshaped culture.
