Electric Muse Embroidery — Hand-Embellished Portrait

Description

This one-of-a-kind embroidered artwork is part of my Electric Muses series—an ongoing exploration of women as creators, thinkers, and forces of quiet rebellion.

A vintage photographic portrait is transformed through hand embroidery, with bold geometric stitching forming a richly textured dress in jewel tones of turquoise, plum, olive, and gold. The contrast between the grayscale figure and vibrant thread highlights the tension between past and present—history re-stitched through a contemporary lens.

Delicate hand-stitched details extend from the figure’s hand, suggesting motion, thought, or magic in progress. The piece is finished in an oval frame, adorned with hand-set rhinestones in deep blue, violet, and silver, creating a subtle halo effect that adds both glamour and edge.

Each piece I make is slow, intentional, and impossible to replicate. This work exists as a singular object—part portrait, part relic, part spell.
